The B&B "Chalet del mare" is a family business: Armida has grown in the tourism thanks to her family. As she always tell everyone:" I love this job because it lets you get in touch with different traditions and cultures and gives everybody the possibility to know this wonderful land, its history and its tastes". Ivan takes care of garden and the customers welcoming. He wishes them to feel in their own home. He's got three big loves: animals, sports and nature. The B&B Chalet del Mare is one of his particolar passion, the wish of sharing it with his family and everybody who will come and visit us. Roberta is "the chef". She cooks tarts, cakes and ring-shaped cakes to delight the tastes of each customers and not only.... but most of all she likes to stay with children and her dream is to become famous as Laura Pausini (Roberta's got a Very Beautiful Voice). Francesco is the Jolly, for every need he gives a total disposition. A real paladin for the safeguard of the B&B! And at last Maria and Giuseppe (they would seem two characters of Holy Bible, wouldn't they?). They are our parents, the mainstay of B&B. I am of the opinion that our breakfast is excellent because they take good care to prepare it.

Salento is a culture and a natural touristic land as few ones, it can transmit different messages and spurs, charm by the myths and the signs of ancient people, awake interest by the testimonies of Mediterranean cultures. It has also the capacity to make curious with the magnificent works by stone-cutters, to attirate with the colour and the landscapes of the sun, to smile with the table tastes.

Porto Cesareo has been identified by history scholars as the ancient Portus Sasinae; it's famous as a touristic place, its 17 km beach and a number of little isles in the crystalline sea. The most famous island is "the Big Isle", called also "the Rabbits' Isle". In summer, the town is full of tourists who are attracted by the good bathing establishment, large holiday villages, characteristic streets between the two riviera: "Riviera di Levante" (east coast) and "Riviera di Ponente" (west coast), this one with a little port for the local fishers' boats. Porto Cesareo is also famous for its delicious mullet and in whose sea a particular type of tasty seaweed grows. The fascination of Porto Cesareo is also the crystal water and the long beaches, covered by dunes of Mediterranean bush. The city has moreover a sea ecology centre (Protected Sea Park), which controls the utilization of ichthyc resources, and an important museum of sea biology, the only one in Italy where you may admire rare species of fish.

The tarantula is a poisounous spider from whose bite is taken the word "pizzica". The poison entered in is cause of strong psycho-motor agitation with violent headaches and stiffness of the muscles, that lead to epiletic fits. But in the case of tarantism, no animal bites the person. Here this fenomen must be interpreted as the symbol of psychic, economic, social and sexual frustation, as well as individual fit of hysterics. In fact, the victims were most of all women, because emarginated. During the ecstasy or the poison torment, they could do anything, even to simulate public sexual intercourse, until when Saint Paul, the protector of tarantism, didn't grant the pardon. The instrument to accompany the dance is the typical tambourine from Lecce; it has a particular suond for the basic rhythm, together with the ordened chaotic cascabels. Around a sheet some people make a circle (ronda) and other dance the pizzica in.
